The difference in cuts is based off the average fit preference. The women's cut has smaller shoulder widths than the men's, and tapers in at the waist. The men's cut is boxier throughout the waist and has broader shoulders than the women's.

The intended fit is relaxed, for optimal performance. A "relaxed" fit is one that is stretched while getting dressed, but hangs off the body when worn. If the fabric is stretched more than just a little around your body, we recommend sizing up.

The sizing chart depicts "regular" sizing. With every order, you have the option to select "short" [-1" in length on the torso and sleeves, or leg length] or "tall" [+1" in length on the torso and sleeves, or leg length].

All sizes have been scaled up or down from the medium regular size. The Women's medium is based off of a person who is 5'5" and 140 lbs. The Men's medium is based off of a person who is 5'10" and 170 lbs. Both of these standards are athletic, but still enjoy beer and snacks.

Always improving

Sizes and cuts will sometimes stray slightly from the sizing listed here - part of Mola's promise is to be regularly improving products, so you may notice an improved fit around your shoulders or torso from your old 2020 version.

Since everything is 'made to order' we can work with you to make an item that matches your unique dimensions. Please send an email to chat about custom fits!

Style

Which style will perform best in the activities you do?

Each style name indicates a specific type of fabric. All of our fabric is sourced from Polartec, but the fabrics have a wide range of conditions that each material is designed for.

The majority of our fabrics are made in the USA and use recycled polyester.

Lightweight & Sun Protective:

Juniper - Super lightweight, silky, natural UPF protection. Recommended for activities like sailing, fishing, summer hiking, mountain biking, kiteboarding

Crag - Super lightweight, silky, natural UPF protection. Recommended for activities like sailing, fishing, summer hiking, mountain biking, kiteboarding

Delta - Breathable, quick dry, and natural UPF protection. Slightly heavier than the Juniper and Crag, increased durability. This fabric has a cooling technology you will notice when you sweat in it while on the move. Recommended for activities like sailing, fishing, summer hiking, mountain biking, kiteboarding.

Grid Tech - Breathable, 50+ UPF protection. Slightly heavier than the Juniper and Crag, increased durability. Recommended for activities like sailing, fishing, summer hiking, mountain biking, kiteboarding.

Grid and Technical Fleece:

Pinniped - The lightest weight grid fleece. Grid blocks are spaced far apart for maximized quick-dry effect. Stays warm and traps heat when worn under a shell, but sheds sweat & allows for a lot of airflow when worn as an outer layer. Recommended for both cool summer nights as a cover up and as a baselayer for skiing, riding, or winter hiking.

Yurtville - The lightest weight grid fleece.

Slidebrook - Grid blocks are spaced closer together than the Pinniped or Yurtville, trapping heat a bit more but still allowing for the airflow required to dry fast. Stays warm and traps heat when worn under a shell, but sheds sweat & allows for a lot of airflow when worn as an outer layer. Recommended as a cover up while out on the town, or as a baselayer for skiing, riding, or winter hiking.

Nosedive - A combination of fabrics that includes both the quick-dry Pinniped fabric as well as a more tightly woven fleece which minimizes airflow. The Nosedive Hoodie has a tightly woven fleece on the chest, with the Pinniped fleece on the back and arms - making it ideal for stop/start activities with a backpack. Recommended for activities like backcountry skiing/riding or winter hiking or as a casual hoodie for wearing around.

Profanity - A combination of grid fleece fabrics. The midweight grid has larger, more densely packed squares, less stretch, and slightly less airflow. The lightweight part of this combination is the Pinniped fabric. Recommended as a midlayer for skiing, riding, winter hiking, or similar activities. Also recommended as a casual hoodie for wearing around.

PowerAir - A revolutionary new fabric technology that promises to shed fewer microfibers out into the environment. This material has air pockets woven into it where heat storing fibers live. Body heat stays trapped in these air pockets, keeping you warm. Stretchy and breathable. Recommended as a secondary baselayer in cold temperatures, or as an outer layer for ski touring, splitboarding, winter hiking, or other stop/start activities.
